FOMO Chronicles Integrates Chainlink VRF

Manga NFT platform FOMO Chronicles has become the latest BSC project to integrate Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF).

FOMO Chronicles X Chainlink

Chainlink’s Verifiable Random Function (VRF) has been integrated by FOMO Chronicles in the project’s latest exciting development.

The official announcement was exclusively communicated via press release to BSC News by the innovative team at FOMO Chronicles. The move comes as the project looks to develop its GameFi effort FOMO Beats on Binance Smart Chain.

“We are happy to be integrating Chainlink VRF into FOMO Beats. We are looking to provide an arcade-style game using NFT character cards. It’s a fun, fresh rhythm game that is now more secure and safe thanks to the verifiable randomness provided by Chainlink VRF.” FOMO Chronicle’s Co-Founder and Design Lead, Mike Alikpala stated.

The team will look to utilize access to the industry-leading decentralized oracle network. With access to a tamper-proof and auditable source of randomness, they will be able to more effectively prevent bots from cheating by randomizing each playthrough. As a consequence FOMO Chronicles GameFI product FOMO Beats becomes more secure with players enjoying a randomized gameplay experience.

“In order to keep the game fresh and prevent cheating by randomizing playthroughs and beatmaps, we need access to a secure random number generator (RNG) that any user could independently audit.” The team explained in their exclusive press release, before going on to cite possible vulnerabilities. “However, RNG solutions for smart contracts require several security considerations to prevent manipulation and ensure system integrity. For instance, RNG solutions derived from blockchain data like block hashes can be exploited by miners/validators, while off-chain RNG solutions derived from off-chain APIs are opaque and don’t provide users with definitive proof about the integrity of the process.”

It is for this exact reason the team has decided to utilize Chainlink VRF. Chainlink VRF functions through combining block data that is still unknown when a request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof.

FOMO Chronicles cite the renowned academic research that has gone into the system, alongside the support from the time-tested oracle network, which is secured through the generation and on-chain verification of cryptographic proofs that prove the integrity of each random number supplied to smart contracts. The reasons for taking the decision seem clear.

“The FOMO Beats smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has valid cryptographic proof, and the cryptographic proof can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. This provides our users with automated and verifiable assurances directly on-chain that FOMO Beats is provably fair and was not tampered with by the oracle, outside entities, or the FOMO Chronicles team.”

BSC News will be following closely as FOMO Chronicles develops their latest GameFi venture and implements Chainlink VRF.

What is FOMO Beats?

FOMO Beats is a competitive NFT character-based game where each play session is unique to prevent bots from following the movements of beatmaps. A fresh gameplay experience for each level with some new and exciting features is planned in the game roadmap.
