The Junior Senator from the ‘Equality State’ is a strong advocate of crypto and bitcoin.

Top Proponent Buys a Load of Bitcoin

A top proponent of cryptocurrency in the United States Senate has disclosed a bitcoin purchase as high as $100,000. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) made a sizeable transaction through River Financial on August 16.

The notoriously bullish Senator’s filing drew attention because it occurred outside of the mandated 45-day reporting deadline, according to the disclosed filings from Thursday, October 7th. US Senators are required by law to disclose certain financial transactions. The Senator has not been shy to show the world of her opinions.

“Bitcoin is bipartisan. Digital assets are apolitical,” her account tweeted on September 25th.

The Senator has been a strong voice in Washington DC and was a leader in the summertime push to amend the brokerage language in the infrastructure bill. Lummis’ recent purchase was made less than two weeks after the fight in Washington to basically save the industry.

Senator Lummis once again grew her portfolio size of the volatile digital assets. Lummis claimed in July to possess at least five bitcoin. She made her first purchase in 2013 at a price of $330.

It hasn’t all been about gainz for the Senator. The price of bitcoin on August 16, fluctuated around $46,000. The price at the time of writing is over $54,700.

The Senator has also been a strong advocate for adoption of bitcoin ETFs and the usage of cryptocurrency for retirement funds and other investments.

She told CNBC in June:“I would like to see cryptocurrency, like bitcoin, become part of a diversified asset allocation that are used in retirement funds and other opportunities for people to save for the future.”
