Undead Blocks Introduces KillToEarn Through Blockchain Gaming

A look into Undead Blocks, a Left4Dead like blockchain game that coined the term KillToEarn for their web3 gaming project.

Undead Blocks has risen amongst a wave of First Person Shooter (FPS) games that have recently hit the Web3 gaming space in the past months. The AAA-studio developed game allows players to KillToEarn by defeating hordes of zombies, a familiar gameplay setting for many FPS enthusiasts.

Tokenomics

The game has a dual-token economy where $UNDEAD tokens are used as on-chain governance and currency tokens, while the two ZBUX coins are off-chain currencies. ZBUX, in particular, can be earned while playing the game and exchanged into Gold ZBUX, which players can extract from the ecosystem at a somewhat stable exchange rate of $0.10.

Game Modes

Players can download the game client and sign up for an account through Undead Block’s website. Users need to have a Waygu account to download and can download for Apple OS or Windows.

There are various game modes accessible at this stage of the game – Solo, Pistol Speed Run, MP5 Massacre, and AKM Assault. Once inside the game, players are taken to the Sanborn New York map, a post-apocalyptic neighborhood where swarms of zombies will start making their way toward the player.

Depending on the game mode, players either kill as many zombies as they can within a limited time or survive through various rounds with waves of zombies looking to get a piece of the player.

Gameplay Review

Gameplay-wise, Undead Blocks looks harder than it seems. Players must be conscious of the environment as zombies will be coming from all directions. The best Undead Blocks comparison to existing games would be Left4Dead. Instead of players making their way through the level, players need to survive within a limited space.

The team also made the game compatible to play on controllers like X-Box and PlayStation, if players prefer that over keyboards. Multiplayer is also an aspect that Wagyu Games looks to roll out for Undead Blocks.

“We promote teams of friends coordinating and gaming together. During each Squads mode match, players will be able to invite their friends to a Lobby to join the same match and take down zombies together,” the team added. “Groups of friends will be able to enter contests as a team and earn crypto together. We include full lobby communication functionality through a connected audio input to allow players to communicate with each other verbally.”

In terms of graphics, Undead Blocks beats out most web3 blockchain games, and some FPS competitors, in this category. Wagyu Games mainly develops Undead Blocks, but has partnered with Kevuru Games, a game art studio that has handled titles like Star Wars, Fortnite, and Iron Order, for the art and game design of the project.

P2E Tournaments and Player Adoption

Behind a recent public beta launch, Undead Blocks is looking to boost user adoption and increase involvement. The PlayAndEarn blockchain game built on the Ethereum network is holding a CM TOP DOG-sponsored tournament. The tournament has a prize pool of $15,000, even though the game is still in its BETA phase.

“Undead Blocks will be the world’s first AAA kill-to-earn first person zombie shooter that allows players to use Weapon Loadout NFTs to kill zombies and earn every single day,” the team said in their whitepaper. “Players can earn Gold ZBUX, which can be swapped for select cryptocurrencies or used to obtain rare in-game items through leaderboards and challenges participation. Players also earn Standard ZBUX, allowing them to level up their weaponry and build equity in the assets that they own.”

Undead Blocks has the gameplay and backing to keep building as well. The project recently joined together with renowned gamefi and NFT project Immutable X, proving the ability to join together for premium exposure. Animoca Brands, a major game software and VC company, has also invested in Undead Blocks.
