The program, which seeks to enlist community members passionate about Polygon, has generated a large number of entries.
Building a Community
Polygon, formerly MATIC, is a leading Layer-2 scaling solution for the Ethereum blockchain. The platform has made a couple of efforts to increase awareness of its platform and encourage the development of blockchain solutions. One of these efforts is Polygon’s sponsorship of an initiative to build a strong blockchain developer community for Africa’s peculiar needs.
New Advocacy Program

To further grow the Polygon brand, Polygon recently announced a new drive to enlist dedicated community members. These members will form a group known as Polygon Advocates. The group is expected to work with the Polygon team in growing the platform and Ethereum in general. Some of the privileges that Polygon Advocates would enjoy include:
Opportunity to be Polygon’s representative in events.
Have exclusive access to the Polygon team
A chance to network with leaders in the blockchain industry and the global Polygon community.
What Is Expected From Polygon Advocates?
The primary expectation required of applicants is to believe in Polygon’s vision of revamping Ethereum with a scaling solution. In line with that, advocates are expected to:
Showcase Polygon to their local community
Onboard new members and enlighten the community about Polygon’s mission and goals
Report back to the team feedback from the community to guide the team in modelling Polygon in the future.
Enthusiastic Response From The Community
Already, many people have applied to the program, eliciting excitement from the platform.
On its Twitter handle, the Polygon Team wrote: “[we are] thrilled to have received more than 220+ incredible applications to our Polygon Advocates Program”.
Application into the Advocates Program is still open. More details about the program, including the application form, can be accessed here.
About Polygon
Polygon (formerly known as MATIC) is a Ethereum-based Layer-2 protocol that tackles the fundamental high gas fee and congestion issues of the Ethereum blockchain. The effectiveness of Polygon as an alternative to generic Ethereum has seen existing projects such as Aave, Curve adopting its chain.

Recently, the platform announced the launch of the Polygon SDK. The SDK will be the framework developers will use to build decentralised applications (DApps) on the network.
