The famed entrepreneur and media mogul Mark Cuban has been recognized as a key investor to Alethea AI, a startup that looks to make Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) into walking, talking robots.
The iNFT endeavor has dozens of backers from the crypto, technology, and finance sectors, like Alameda, Metapurse, and Multicoin. Through a Medium blog on August 26th, Alethea CEO Arif Khan announced that it has secured $16 million in token sale funding.
“While NFTs have continued to be exciting for collectors, Alethea AI has managed to uniquely combine AI Powered Avatars that are secured on-chain as NFTs,” Cuban stated in the blog post. “The result is not only fun and entertaining but the foundation for a level of interactivity that is going to advance quickly using Alethea’s technologies.”
The announcement comes a few months after their first intelligent NFT (iNFT)––Alice–– sold at Sotheby’s for nearly half a million dollars.
Like something out of Dr. Frankenstein, Alethea has a plan to bring NFTs to life, working in tandem with the Open AI team to create interactive and intelligent NFTs. The power of NFTs continues to take on a new form as the ‘digital assets.’
The possibilities of artificial intelligence, along with personification and anamorphosis, will make it possible to bring nearly anything to life. The innovative and unique fusion of AI and NFT technology is a step toward the future.
‘Endless Possibilities’
If you remember the hype––and reaction––of the Tupac hologram that Dr. Dre helped engineer to perform at the 2012 Coachella Music Festival, it is hard to gauge what might come of the iNFTs. Even the Oscar-winning film Her offers an entire physiological exploration as well. The NFT technology will allow these digital avatars to take on a persona and an individual identity.
The technology here is pioneering into a new space––this endeavor comes with obvious ethical boundaries as well. The technology can recreate characters and personalities of the past and is also the dawn of an entirely new creative outlet. Batman, Atticus Finch, Felix the Cat, Genghis Khan. The possibilities are endless.

Alethea works closely with Open AI incorporating synthetic media to build a platform for creators and innovators from around the globe to build futuristic technologies. The two groups hope to build a scalable product for the masses. Still extremely early, but this could be a project to watch.
