Leading Metaverse Platforms Combine to Create DAO

OMA3: “We believe in a metaverse without restraining walls …”

The Big DAO for Metaverse

Leading companies in the blockchain gaming space have joined a coalition to create the DAO metaverse called the “Open Metaverse Alliance for Web3” (OMA3) to address challenges facing the fledgling Web3 industry, especially conserving users’ freedom of information.

This is a joint effort among some of the most prominent blockchain/NFT/metaverse/game developers and investors in the crypto world, including Animoca Brands Alien WorldsDapper LabsDecentralandStar Atlas and The Sandbox, as well as WivitySpace and Upland. Right now, details on how voting rights are distributed and governance have not yet been disclosed.

“We believe in a metaverse without restraining walls, where individual platforms are interconnected and fully interoperable. To realize this goal of an open metaverse, we are announcing the creation of OMA3 and inviting all blockchain-based metaverse companies to join,” according to an OMA3 statement.

OMA3 will operate as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), guided by inclusiveness, transparency, and adherence to Web3 guidelines. In addition, OMA3 aims to provide objective data ownership and enhance user interaction with specific purposes, including:

Community-run, decentralized and indexable.

Where users will be able to own and use their digital assets (e.g. NFTs), identity, and personal data in a frictionless way across multiple platforms.

Where users are in control of their assets, not platform owners.

Where ideas and services are based on the foundation of decentralization and interoperability to optimize for individual freedom, social, economic, and other sustainable outcomes.

Generally speaking, a DAO allows like-minded members of a community to come together and vote on governance decisions, flatten organizational hierarchies, create flexible workflows and allocate resources to achieve a common core mission.

The fact that the biggest names in metaverse development are forging such a close alliance shows the potential of the future collective strength of this segment of the Web3 industry.

There are different ways of classifying DAOs. However, if divided by operating function, which is the most common classification, DAO will include the following types: DAO Operating Systems, Grants DAO, Protocol DAOs, Investment DAOs, Service DAOs, Social DAOs, Collector DAOs, and Media DAOs.

We will keep you up to date on the details of the OMA3 DAO as they emerge.
