Axie Infinity is marketing their new Origins game mode as a competitive ESports game. Here’s how to find and join tournaments online.
Axie Infinity has been slowly transitioning towards being an Esports game to become a premier option in the gaming industry.
The Axie team has begun funding tournament planners with an allocation of $AXS to organize competitive contests centered on Axie Infinity: Origins. Tournaments and competitions have started to take many forms due to the popularity of Axie as a top blockchain game.
Guilds like METAT8 ESports have focused on these competitions within Lunacia, while LAN tournaments, like the one in AxieCon, are restricted by geographical locations. There are also online tournaments held through the growing online platform called Community Gaming.
“If I want to join any tournaments I just go to the [Community Gaming] website and look for a tournament to join. I mostly know the regular schedules of weekly tournaments, but for new or big events I can find it there as well,” Cara Cute, a professional Axie player, shared with BSC News. “It’s easy. Just create an account in Community gaming [and] you’re good to go.”
Community Gaming was built to be an all-in-one platform offering Esports infrastructure for Web2 and Web3 games alike. Axie Infinity tournament organizers prefer this platform because it can directly link to Ronin wallets, the custom blockchain for Axie Infinity.
“It’s convenient to join tournaments because everything shows up in the Axie Infinity section. Especially now [sic] Ronin is integrated its easier to get the prizes,” Cara continued. “Go to Explore page and filter game to Axie Infinity: Origins. Select which tournaments you want to participate in and click Join. Input the required details such as your IGN, Discord, Guild etc. On the day of the tourney, check in at least 45 mins before the tournament starts. Wait for the brackets and start playing.”
Tournaments of various formats and prize pools can be found on Community Gaming. To join a tournament, online tournament organizers will ask you to join a Discord group and check in at least 30 minutes before the start of the tournament. This is where players look for their opponents to start playing. Afterward, a screenshot of each match is uploaded as proof of the result.
Interested players need to be mindful of the tournament rules, as not all tournaments are equal. Some don’t allow certain Axies in competitions, others ban certain runes and charms, while some are team-based. There are regularly scheduled tournaments and special event LAN tournaments are also listed on the platform. Players should make sure the tournament is available in their region before joining.
What is Axie Infinity:
Axie Infinity is a PlayAndEarn blockchain game where players breed, collect, and play with digital pets called Axies and earn from the interactions. It’s built on Ronin, an Ethereum-based side-chain developed by Vietnamese-based gaming studio Sky Mavis. The protocol put eyes on the PlayAndEarn gaming industry back in 2021. In addition, the team is building a digital nation where each community member comes together to play, earn, and live in Lunacia.
