So how to use Binance Smart Chain dapps and trade tokens on BSC? First, you need to have a wallet that supports BSC, find it here. Then you need to create your BSC wallet. We’ve taught you how to use Ethereum Layer 2 Matic Network with MetaMask. The tutorial for Binance Smart Chain is quite similar to that.

We will use MetaMask as the wallet to introduce the steps.

The MetaMask extension can be downloaded on Chrome and Firefox, or on iOS and Android if you’re a mobile user. If you’ve already had a MetaMask wallet and been an Ethereum user, you can skip the 3 steps below.

Install MetaMask: Click “Add to Chrome” to install MetaMask as Google Chrome extension.

Click “Add Extension” to confirm and MetaMask will be added

Click on the MetaMask logo, then create a new vault. Set your password.

And that’s it! You get your wallet ready to send and receive funds.

Now that you have an Ethereum wallet, it still won’t work with Binance Smart Chain dapps. At worst, you could lose funds by sending them to addresses you can’t actually use.

Let’s change that.

Select the “Settings” from the dropdown menu.

On the “Settings” page, locate the “Networks” menu.

Click “Add Network” to manually add the Binance Smart Chain one — it doesn’t come packaged with MetaMask. It’s important to note that there are two networks you can use: the testnet or the mainnet. Below are the parameters to fill in for each.

Mainnet

Network Name: Smart Chain

New RPC URL: bsc-dataseed.binance.org/

ChainID: 56

Symbol: BNB

Block Explorer URL: bscscan.com

Testnet

Network Name: Smart Chain — Testnet

New RPC URL: data-seed-prebsc-1-s1.binance.org:8545/

ChainID: 97

Symbol: BNB

Block Explorer URL: testnet.bscscan.com

(An example of connecting to the mainnet.)

Once you “Save the Network” and return to the main view, you’ll notice two things: The network has automatically been set to the one you just entered, and the units are no longer denominated in ETH, but in BNB.

Now you have connected your MetaMask wallet to Binance Smart Chain. But how to add Bep20 (BSC) tokens in your MetaMask wallet as only ERC-20 tokens can be searched on MetaMask wallet?

Here are the steps.

Find the token contract address you wanna add in PancakeSwap token info. For example, you want to add BUSD Token. Copied the contract address on the top.

Click on the address there, it will direct you to the BscScan page. Copy the contract address there.

Open your MetaMask again. Click “Add Token”

Paste the contract address in your MetaMask. Click “Next”.

Then confirm by clicking “Add Token”.

Go back to your wallet page. You will see the token has been added to your wallet now!

It means now you onboard the Binance Smart Chain! Go to play with the Binance Smart Chain dapps and explore the BSC ecosystem!
