Q1: Now to start the AMA, please tell the community what Froyo Games is all about & Story behind?
0xFroyo: Froyo Games is a game publisher and decentralized gameFi platform for blockchain games on mobile and PC that will be launching in 2022. Think of it like Steam or Epic Games – a home for your blockchain games (and NFTs!) with a lot more features under the hood to make it easy to use and friendly to on-board game developers of all skill levels.
Q2: Why do we need another game platform? What kind of tools does Froyo provide to developers?
0xFroyo: We are not just an app to download games. We are a full platform. We have it all. IGO Launchpad, NFT Marketplace, SDK, GameFi social marketing platform and of course, high-quality games! We even have an NFT launchpad and best of all, we are chain agnostic on the two largest chains (Binance Smart Chain and Ethereum) so no one gets left out. We are going to be rooted in the blockchain, making it a fundamental part of our platform instead of a mere afterthought.
Q3: I have never heard of Froyo. Where are you going to get your games?
0xFroyo: Froyo Games may be new but at heart we are passionate gamers. iCandy Interactive Limited (The largest gaming studio in South East Asia and Australia with more than 500 employees and launched more than 300+ games) is one of our most important strategic developers in our early stages. We will announce more strategic developers in the future.
Q4: Is Froyo a platform or a studio?
0xFroyo: Froyo Games is a GameFi platform. However we work with a fantastic network of game designers, regional studios and award-winning developers who are interconnected through Froyo Games.
Q5: This is ambitious. Have you secured funding for this?
0xFroyo: We have the support of some great capital funds on this endeavour. We had secured a $1.6M strategic funding (it was 5x oversubscribed) from Animoca Brands who is our lead investors along with other industry leaders which include Spartan Group, GBV Capital, BTC12 Capital, Mirana Ventures, Avocado Guild, Hooga Gaming, Genblock Capital, Icetea Labs, Gamefi, Bigcoin Capital, Gate Labs, Newman Capital and KOI Capital. Q6: Why would a silly in-game item be worth anything on the NFT market? I’d rather flip Bored Apes on Opensea.
0xFroyo: Take a look around – many exchanges and online stores are already in the business of trading in-game items. From CS:GO to Rocket League, from Fortnite to GTAV. Items from weapon skins to victory dance moves all fetch a price. As long as someone’s willing to pay for them, there will be a market for it.
The difference is that in most games today, you don’t truly own your in-game items. They are merely a database entry on a centralised server. With in-game items implemented as NFTs with minimal friction on the Froyo platform, players can now truly own their in-game assets where if they keep their keys to themselves, no one can ever take them away. Not even us here at Froyo Games.
Q7: Will there be a whitelist? What about airdrops? A discount sale? A stealth mint?
0xFroyo: We have not announced anything at the moment. Any tokens out there representing Froyo Games are fake! Please be very careful! No one from Froyo Games should be directly messaging you without any prior business. Keep tabs on our official channels on Discord, Telegram and Twitter and as always – never reveal your password, private key and/or seed phrase to anyone, not even Froyo staff.
Some people have asked us why no early sale or airdrop? Froyo Games is here to stay and is in the game industry for the long run. Many blockchain projects face the threat of a pump-and-dump by early investors who only participate in early sales just for the airdrop or cheap token sales only to be able to dump them later. At Froyo we want to focus on building for the long term, with a healthy ecosystem and economy. This begins with having the right mindset and supporters on board and not just random whales looking for the next quick buck.
On a hindsight, we will announce our humble whitelist soon and anyone who wishes to join will need to work for your allocation. Please stay tuned for more details!
