A new partnership between BitPay Inc. and Verifone Inc. could see customers pay for various services via cryptocurrency.
Crypto payment processor BitPay has combined with Verifone, one of the largest providers of the machines that allow card payments. The partnership will see Verifone terminals begin accepting payments for US merchants from various crypto wallets and tokens.
“Verifone’s merchant base includes many of the world’s largest and most well-known brands looking to tap into the growing crypto market,” Co-founder and CEO of BitPay, Stephen Pair, was quoted on Verifone’s press release. “This partnership allows these businesses to easily and securely accept crypto payments and benefit from pent-up consumer demand to spend crypto.”
BitPay has already highlighted its capabilities with more than 60,000 transactions a month, the majority of which are in Bitcoin, according to the company itself.
Crypto Market Value Recognized
The Verifone press release made an exciting note of what the crypto market could offer and highlighted that the partnership is mutually beneficial.
Cryptocurrency’s $2 trillion market cap is underlined as the incredible sum that will be accessed as a result.
“Our merchant base is busy enabling several new advanced payment methods (APMs), and the appetite for crypto payments has exploded this year,” Verifone Head of APMs, Jeremy Belostock, explained. “Together we have solved all the potential challenges for merchants: there’s no translation risk, low implementation costs, and consumers will find the payment experience very seamless.”
This seamless experience coupled with a genuine appetite by crypto users to see their assets circulate in the ‘real world’ could see users hop into outlets like Taco Bell and enjoy their favorite meals via something like DogeCoin or Bitcoin.
