GameFi project Devolution has announced that it will be the latest project to integrate Chainlink Keepers on BNB Chain mainnet.
The move was exclusively confirmed to BSC News by the team at Chainlink. The motivations behind the decision were simple for Devolution who are looking to support the auction functionality of their NFT Marketplace.
“Chainlink is the industry standard for accessing secure off-chain data and computation services,” Founder of Devolution Professor Gi reiterated. “When we were looking to automate the auction functions on our NFT marketplace, Chainlink Keepers stood out as a highly reliable solution that would last long into the future. We think long term here at Devolution, and using Chainlink services is core to making sure our infrastructure stays high-quality and stands the test of time.”
With the GameFi project featuring an immersive metaverse on which the game transpires, the project is looking to push on with its innovative endeavours.
Importance of Chainlink Integration
With the NFT marketplace the departing point for new users on Devolution, it is an important aspect of the project. Auctions take place on the marketplace in which users can acquire an Evomon. Evomon’s are described as powerful creatures native to the Devolution metaverse. They are the dominant population on Callisto—Jupiter’s outer moon. They also allow users to enjoy the immersive GameFi world.
“While auction functionality is trivial to enable with centralized infrastructure, we’re committed to building out a decentralized platform for trustless transactions, making end-to-end decentralization the first priority,” Devolutions team stated in an exclusive press release.
The team goes on to explain that smart contracts are unable to trigger functions by themselves. Instead, they need an external entity to trigger functions for them. In the case of auctions, the functions to start and stop the auction process, as well as to deliver the NFT directly to the winner’s wallet, required this type of manual trigger.
To avoid centralized measures the team sought Chainlink Keepers to automatically jumpstart smart contracts based on arbitrary conditions such as time (calculated in blocks).
“In the case of Devolution’s auction smart contract, Chainlink Keepers start an auction round when a new Evomon is listed and end it after a certain time. Then, Chainlink Keepers trigger a transaction for the highest bidder to receive the NFT.”
The team went on to categorically list the reasons why Chainlink Keepers was an easy decision for their project.

The Devolution team also stated its ambition to implement another time-tested Chainlink service: Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF).
“Chainlink VRF will be integrated within our upcoming mystery boxes to help guarantee all players have a fair and equal chance at receiving rare rewards.”
