Crypto Snack Enriches Football Experience With RCD Espanyol
Crypto Snack announced the beginning of its first phase to enable RCD Espanyol to become the world’s first football club to integrate crypto payments. The La Liga football club based in Barcelona will accept over 30 different cryptocurrencies, including the SNACK token from Crypto Snack.
The announcement on Nov. 17 is a big step for crypto and football. Pericos (Espanyol’s loyal fans) and fans of all walks of life will be able to use crypto to make online and offline purchases for merchandise, tickets, and match experiences. The two entities are even working to install crypto ATMs in the modernized RCDE Stadium.
“We’re excited to partner with RCD Espanyol to bring crypto currency payments directly to fans,” Stuart Morrison, CEO of Crypto Snack, said in a press release. “This partnership will accelerate our plans to make cryptocurrency payments viable and scalable in the real world.”
BSC News had the chance to attend a game alongside the Crypto Snack team. The Crypto Snack opportunities are a one-of-a-kind experience that crypto enthusiasts and football fans alike will enjoy.
“RCD Espanyol is thrilled to be a pioneering football club, and the first to bring widespread crypto currency payments to the sport,” said Toni Alegre, Vice Principal at RCD Espanyol, in the press release. “Crypto Snack provided expert guidance, support, and technical know-how to help us make this happen.”
Crypto Snack is also working to grow its reach beyond Spanish football. The team received a $50 million investment in July 2022, and the team is looking to expand its experience to other European teams in the future.
Crypto Snack is also the first cryptocurrency to appear in the popular FIFA video game due to its partnership with RCD Espanyol.
