LeBron ‘King’ James got into the crypto-verse along with the LeBron James Family Foundation (LJFF) in collaboration with Crypto.com.
The exchange announced on January 28 that the multi-year partnership would support education and workforce development opportunities focused on Web3. The I Promise program will give students and families access to the tools and educational resources needed to participate and succeed in building Web3. The partnership will serve as a push to the I Promise community to find employment and opportunities in areas in Web3 that never existed before.
“Blockchain technology is revolutionizing our economy, sports and entertainment, the art world, and how we engage with one another,” James mentioned in the official statement from the exchange. “I want to ensure that communities like the one I come from are not left behind. Crypto.com and I are aligned on the need to educate and support my community with the information and tools they need for inclusion.”
Crypto.com has been pioneering sports partnerships in the crypto-verse, where they signed numerous jersey and advertising deals in 2021 across several major sports leagues. The company notably capped 2021 by obtaining the naming rights to James’ home court for the Los Angeles Lakers, changing the infamous Staples Center to the Crypto.com Arena. The individual move with Lebron James and Crypto.com adds another layer to the sports connections for the company.
