The Clam Island Pearl Hunt Event
Clam Island – A Non-Fungible Token (NFT) and GameFi Yield Farming platform on Binance Smart Chain (BSC) has recently announced a “Pearl Hunt Event” allowing a Pearl NFT to be redeemed for a real life pearl necklace from world-renowned luxury jewellery retailer, Tiffany & Co.
Clam Island aims to gamify blockchain investment and bring Decentralized Finance (DeFi) to the masses by making the process easy, fun and effective. The Clam Island team participated in the Filecoin Launchpad Accelerator Programs of Tachyon and presented the project in front of various Venture Capital companies on the Demo Day of the program on 28 September 2021, several days before its official public launch.

On Clam Island, which was only launched on 30 September 2021, a user is able to buy Clam NFTs and farm them for Pearl NFTs, both of which are NFTs with billions of possible randomized trait combinations on the BSC Blockchain making each one of them unique.

These fully interactive 3D NFTs have financial utility in the Clam Island Bank – this is what other projects call a yield farm. The Clam Island Bank has a gamified tweak: Every day there is a Pearl NFT with certain traits that can boost your yield. Pearl NFTs can be farmed with Clam NFTs in the Clam Island Farms.
The Power of Gamification
Gamification makes DeFi easy and accessible to everyone who has ever played a game. Fully interactive 3D NFTs on a fully immersive 3D Island aren’t everything that the Clam Island Team has prepared for their users. The platform is built on a 3D Island with in-game characters that support users through the yield farming and NFT generation process, and introduces an industry-first Play-to-Invest model, as distinct from Play-to-Earn.
“In a Play-to-Earn model, you have to grind by investing time and skill to earn money. In a Play-to-Invest model like Clam Island, on a Play-to-Invest platform, you play a game to invest money, as an alternative to traditional models such as stock investing where the process is heavily reliant on boring dashboards filled with charts and numbers,” according to Sandy Zhang, CEO of Clam Island. “This is fundamentally different from Play-to-Earn and is also much more friendly to the casual gamer interested in novel ways to invest money.”

Clam Island is a project aiming to capitalize on the NFT’s largely untapped potential as an interactive gamification tool and as a building block of decentralized finance (DeFi). It claims to be the first in its industry to create a Play-to-Invest ecosystem, incorporating the purchase and production of Clams and Pearls as an interactive NFT collectible game with financial utility.
“Every NFT on Clam Island already has utility and financial backing through the implementation of yield boosts in our native in-game token,” said Zhang. “But we didn’t just want to stop there. We all know physical artwork can be made into an NFT, but what if a digital-first NFT could have some utility or even a counterpart in the real world? This is how we came up with our Pearl Hunt Event,” Mr Zhang continued. “Every Pearl NFT produced has randomized traits based on real-life pearl traits. So why not let a rare, valuable Pearl NFT be redeemed for a rare, valuable real-world pearl?”
You can participate in the Pearl Hunt Event simply by buying Clams and depositing them into the Clam Farm to produce Pearls on Clam Island. Pearls with traits matching the eligibility criteria can be entered in the Pearl Hunt portal. When the event concludes on 31 October 2021, the eligible Pearl with the rarest traits / highest grading entered in the Pearl Hunt portal will win a Tiffany & Co pearl necklace, valued at up to $10,000.
“And we are just getting started,” Mr Zhang explained. “There is so much more that we have planned, some of which will link Clam and Pearl NFTs on a much deeper level than this Pearl Hunt Event. We can’t ruin the surprise right now, but we are very excited to show the world our vision.”
