BNB Chain Maintains Role as Most Popular and Active Chain

Not being complacent, BNB Chain is still innovating to keep its place at the top.

BNB Chain Retains Top Spot

The BNB Chain is still the dominant blockchain as far as user-activity is concerned. Based on a recent 7-day statistics released by Nansen, the user-activity on BNB Chain was way ahead of other chains by a significant margin.

According to the statistics, the number of active wallet addresses on the BNB Chain dropped by 0.50% during the 7-day period under review. Despite the marginal drop, BNB Chain was ahead of its closest competitor, Ethereum, by more than 1.8 million users.

Nansen revealed the list in its tweet on March 7: The number of active addresses has increased on most of the blockchains:

BNB Chain – 4.01 million

Ethereum – 2.19 million

Ronin – 1.26 million

Polygon – 1.01 million

Avalanche – 274k

Fantom – 203k

Arbitrum – 60.4k

Celo – 31.6k

Optimism – 9.72k

BNB Chain––formerly known as Binance Smart Chain––has been the preferred blockchain for developers and users. The reason is not far-fetched: research in late 2021 indicated that the cost of transactions on the BNB Chain is 10x cheaper and more energy-efficient than Ethereum.

Faster transactions and low gas costs have been the edge BNB Chain traditionally held over Ethereum. However, other alternative blockchains like Solana, Polygon, etc., have emerged and boast of superiority over BNB Chain regarding gas fee and scalability, etc.

Though the competition amongst chains is tense, BNB Chain captured a significant part of the DeFi and smart-contract market before newer chains came along, and, coupled with its new focus on MetaFi, the BNB Chain may still keep its place as the most popular chain of choice for some time to come.
