Latest move brings new blood to Binance US to help with compliance hurdles heading Into 2022.
First Chief Risk Officer for Binance US
Binance US confirmed it has hired Sidney Majalya for its first Chief Risk Officer. Majalya formerly worked as Intel’s top compliance executive.
The news was announced in a Binance US press release on Dec. 16th detailing how Majalya brings over 20 years of experience to his new role. Majalya comes with a background in the technology industry having previously worked as Uber, Oracle, as well as an attorney in the US Justice Department.
“I’m excited to be joining the team and energized by the company’s mission to create an inclusive crypto ecosystem at scale with the most advanced technology in the industry,” Majalya said in the press release. “Binance.US is deeply committed to compliance, and our priority is to maintain and grow a world-class compliance and risk organization that earns the utmost confidence and trust of our customers, investors, and regulators.”
The new role for Majalya will see him play a pivotal role in Binance US’ plans for 2022. Compliance is a major hurdle for crypto, especially in the United States. His previous experience working with antitrust and anti-corruption related matters will serve Binance US handily as they push for an IPO in 2022. Majalya’s experience in both the private and public sector should prove to be an asset.
According to the press release, Majalya will report to CEO Brian Schroder, serving as deputy general counsel on top of holding the first Chief Risk Officer.
