The cryptocurrency exchange strategically places top executives in positions to further expand their global reach.
Binance Secures Key Execs
Binance, a global leading cryptocurrency exchange, looks to build out and scale Web3 to the masses. The news comes after announcing on April 1 through Press Release that they have on-boarded two senior executives, Rohit Wad, the former Corporate VP at Microsoft, and Mayur Kamat, a former Agoda CP of Product.
Wad, who is set to become the new CTO, brings significant experience from some major companies. In addition to his time with Microsoft, Wad served as the Engineering Director at both Facebook and Google. He was integral to the development of both Microsoft Teams and Skype. Wad will look to build scalable, secure, and efficient Web3 services and solutions. His role will also focus on the ongoing security and stability of the exchange itself while continuing adherence to regional regulatory requirements.
“We are working on many Web3 experiences and solutions that will be transformative to billions of people, starting with the freedom of money,” said Wad. “I am excited to be able to bring the amazing advances and potential of Web3 technology to everyone”.
Kamat will serve as Head of Product and will be key to developing all of Binance’s product strategies. This includes products and services that align with Binance’s vision for scalability at a macro level combined with reducing the barrier to entry to Web3 tech.
“My career has been focused on improving everyday life with the power of technology,” said Kamat.
Kamat brings 20 years of experience in tech and also has experience at Hiya and Google. He was behind the product team that developed Gmail for mobile, Android for Work, Hangouts, Google Voice, and WIndows DRM.
“Less than 10 percent of the addressable internet population owns crypto assets. Our goal is to bring the benefits of Web3 technology to the masses by making the product simple enough that anyone in the world can use them, including those who are new to it. I am humbled to play a small part in providing financial freedom and supporting inclusion to billions of people,” Kamat added.
The announcement of these new positions comes after Binance released news that it is the first-ever cryptocurrency exchange partner of the GRAMMY Awards. It is there will they will continue to focus on expanding Web3 to the music industry. Binance has recently been active in the news after announcing new licenses to operate in Dubai and Bahrain and an MOU to potentially take over a securities firm in Brazil.
