Binance Hires First Chief Communication Officer

Binance continues its strategic hiring spree in what appears to be a response to regulator scrutiny.

New Man at the Communications Helm

The new Chief Communications Officer at Binance role will be filled by former General Electric and Edelman executive Patrick Hillmann. The move should relieve some public exposure for CEO Changpeng Zhao, who has handled much of the communication from the firm.

The crypto giant announced on October 28 via an official news release on PR Newswire, that Hillmann would lead the communications and public affairs division and was well-equipped to do so effectively.

“As we continue our evolution from a disruptive tech startup to a respected global financial institution, we recognized that it was paramount that we recruit leading compliance, communications, and government affairs experts,” Binance Co-Founder Yi He explained, before going on to detail Hillmann’s credentials.

The team has already exemplified an appetite to identify and employ the best candidates in recent months, and this is another effective step in that direction.

“Patrick’s proven track record of successfully helping reposition some of the world’s largest brands in highly regulated industries clearly sets him apart,” Yi He went on to say.

This new hire is one of a slew of strategic appointments that have focused on the experience of potential candidates when deciding the possible impact they could have on quelling regulatory unrest. Hillmann’s important institutional experience and relevant ties will be desirable to Binance, whose attempts at satisfying regulators are ongoing.
