Binance CEO Humbly Speaks of Wealth at New Economy Forum

The Binance chief was reluctant to be drawn on his exact wealth, although he stated that he didn’t really care about money.

The Money Question for Binance Chief

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has been continuing his ongoing charm offensive in the US, this time appearing at the Blomberg New Economy forum. In recent weeks the Binance chief has appeared on CNBC and Blomberg TV, and has spoken with the Associated Press. The round of interviews comes as Binance.US gears up towards a public listing.

One of the most personal and telling moments in the interview came when the host suggested that CZ was one of the most wealthy people in the world.

“I’m not sure about that to be honest, and also I don’t really care about wealth or money and the [rich list] rankings,” said CZ.

As BSC News previously reported the c-level executive plans to give away the bulk of his wealth during his lifetime.

“I don’t need a lot of money, and I can maintain my lifestyle in this way. I do intend to give away most of my wealth, like many wealthy entrepreneurs or founders did from Rockefeller until today,” said CZ to the Associate Press last week. “I do intend to give away 90, 95 or 99% of my wealth.”

Lower Fees at Binance

Another major point of interest for Binance users will be the revelation that CZ intends to reduce fees in the future.

“We can actually think of charging even lower fees – we’re actually thinking about that right now,” he said. “I do not believe in maximizing profits, I also do not believe in maximizing shareholder value in the short term. I believe in growing the industry, providing the best value for our users and then we’ll grow and long term we actually maximize the shareholder value,” he explained.
