Crypto x Sports: AFA Gain Important Ally
Binance has officially announced itself as the main partner of one the most successful footballing organizations in history. Argentina’s Football Association will mark the first national team to partner with Binance.
The official announcement on the Argentinian FA’s webpage on January 24 confirmed a five-year deal is in place and will precipitate the creation of a fan token for the AFA. Binance will also become the naming sponsor of the professional league. AFA president, Claudio Tapia, recognized the deal’s significance in a comment in the announcement.
“In recent years we have added many important commercial agreements, significantly increasing the income of the AFA, in addition to venturing into new digital businesses with ample growth potential,” he explained before honing in on Binance. “The agreement with Binance meets all the conditions we are looking for. A leading global brand in its field, innovative and with a vision of creating new digital assets. We are very happy with the incorporation of Binance as a commercial partner of the AFA. An alliance that, without a doubt, is strategic and will generate excellent results for both parties.” (trsn. By BSC News)
The move is one of several by Binance toward sport and football, with a partnership for the African Cup of Nations announced just weeks prior.

Binance Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer, He Yi, further delved into the motivations of the deal and the greater impact it will have on the exposure of the crypto giant:
“Soccer and cryptocurrencies are life in Argentina, so it makes sense for Binance to partner with the Argentine Football Association. Through this agreement, we hope to support Argentine soccer at all levels and introduce Binance, the crypto world and the blockchain to soccer fans across the country and the world.” (trns. by BSC News)
The deal will be mutually beneficial offering both partners a chance for marketing excellence and perhaps even precipitating greater global exposure for crypto technology. Latin America has been a crypto hotspots in recent years and Binance have looked to capitalize on this with strategic partnerships.
This sentiment was alluded to by the General Director of Binance for Latin America, Maximiliano Hinz, who stated:
“From Binance we are very happy to be able to accompany the AFA on its path through the Blockchain world. The fan token is going to bring many new features so that the public can have a much closer contact with the selection. We very much look forward to its release.”
Whether this will be just another partnership in a long list to come remains to be see, but BSC News will be closely following developments.
