Binance Adds New Leader for Central America, Colombia, Caribbean

The new Director General joins Binance after leading Crypto and Blockchain teams for Mastercard in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Focus on Spanish-Speaking Latin America

Binance has named Daniel Acosta as the new Director General for Latin America, the Caribbean, and Colombia. The new Director joins Binance after 10 years at Mastercard, looking to grow the blockchain community across Spanish-speaking Latin America.

The news broke through a Spanish-language Binance blog on Oct. 31, which detailed Acosta’s background and expectations for the role. He joins after being the Regional Leader for Latin America and the Caribbean for Crypto and Blockchain products at Mastercard.

“Latin America is an extremely relevant market for Binance, and it will continue to invest in expanding services for local users, as well as contributing to the development of the blockchain and crypto ecosystem,” Acosta was quoted in the blog (translated to English).

Binance continues to be a major player in Latin American crypto development. Along with being the largest exchange in the world by several metrics, Binance is the preferred exchange for several demographics across Latin America.

“At Binance, we are an industry player looking to collaborate in all the markets we are in and we want to see cryptocurrency and blockchain become mainstream that improves the lives of millions of people across LATAM. The creation of dedicated teams at the regional level allows us to offer more and better services to users,” Acosta added.

Binance also recently opened new Brazilian offices following a promise by CEO Changpeng Zhao in March 2022.
