Apeswap Opens Up, Makes Front End Open Source

Everyone is now able to propose amendments to ApeSwap’s frontend code and help towards improving the platform.

DeFi Protocol ApeSwap Frontend Now Public

Multi-chain DeFi protocol, ApeSwap, has made the platform’s frontend code accessible to the public. By this move, ApeSwap has opened the door for wider community participation in the design of its protocol.

“I clicked a really important button today. We made ApeSwap’s Frontend Open Source. This unlocks things like more community contributions & partner integrations”, co-founder of ApeSwap, Obie Dobotweeted on December 9th.

The frontend of a protocol generally refers to the portion of the protocol that is closest to a user, that is, the side of the protocol users directly interact with. By releasing its frontend code to the public, anyone with the requisite skills can see and modify the program. ApeSwap wants the coding public to have a say in the look and feel of the platform.

Open Source, Good Move?

Source

True decentralisation requires that a project’s code should be made open-source, transparent and accessible to the public. Making it publicly accessible will allow innovation from a wider set of people leading to the development of a finer product. Also, a more secure product is usually the outcome because open sourcing increases the chances of detecting and fixing bugs before a malicious person exploits them.

In an exclusive chat with BSCNews, Obie Dobo affirmed that the desire for more decentralisation is indeed the reason for the move:

“By open-sourcing the frontend, we’re able to crowdsource community contributions, expedite partner integrations, and trend towards becoming a true decentralised autonomous organisation – DAO. With such a large community, opening up our repository was a natural conclusion to step in this direction”, the co-founder stated.

ApeSwap welcomes members of the community to contribute to the growth and improvement of the project’s ecosystem. Here is the Github guideline for contributors. As of press time, ApeSwap’s Github FrontEnd page has registered 10 contributors.

What is ApeSwap?
