AMC Entertainment CEO announces a ‘Huge News’ for Dogecoin Fans. The famous movie theater chain is commencing “crypto payments for gift cards.” AMC’s CEO says now its customers can “buy AMC Theatres digital gift cards … with dogecoin and other cryptocurrency.”
First, in August 2021, AMC CEO Adam Aron shared plans to approve Bitcoin as a payment form for “online concession and movie ticket purchases” by Q4 2021. This was then followed by a payment form green signal also for Litecoin, Ethereum, and Bitcoin Cash in early September 2021. Then AMC announced its plans to “figure out how to” develop a Dogecoin use case for payments.
World’s largest movie exhibition company has now broken the crypto ice by tweeting:
Huge news Dogecoin fans! As we work to accept online crypto payments, now you can buy @AMCTheatres digital gift cards (up to $200 per day) with Dogecoin and other cryptocurrency using a BitPay Wallet,” Aron tweeted Wednesday. “Accepted on our website, mobile app, and in theatres.
Collaborating with BitPay, AMC has its gift cards listed on BitPay’s merchant directory. Those interested can download BitPay’s browser extension, then explore BitPay Wallet features.
