Axie Infinity, a pet collection and battle PlayAndEarn blockchain game on the Ronin network, is currently in the middle of their summer breeding event, causing Lunacians to put back their breeder hats.
The event launched on July 14 and gave Lunacians the chance to breed Axies with summer-themed cosmetic parts. Though it launched during the bear market, there are some reasons why the event could be a good move.
Since most members of the community came in 2021, this is their first cosmetic breeding event they can participate in. A sort of reward for staying inside the community despite the bear market.
Axie is also currently in a transitional period after closing out Season 21 of their Classic Gameplay. Lunacian Summer keeps the community excited during this uncertain phase leading up to the full launch of Axie Infinity: Origin.
The unexpected growth last year gave players unrealistic expectations of the game, and caused the economy to be unstable despite a high earning potential.
The breeding event simulates a demand growth for Axies that gives the team valuable data on the status of the economy and an understanding if it can withstand shocks that come with sudden demand growth. Though the amount of $SLP being burnt because of the event is not enough to bring its prices back up to what it was a year ago, trainers are now breeding once again and $SLP is being used while keeping the community engaged. It makes a lot of sense for the Axie community.
What is Axie Infinity:
Axie Infinity is a PlayAndEarn blockchain game where players breed, collect, and play with digital pets called Axies and earn from the interactions. It’s built on Ronin, an Ethereum-based side-chain developed by Vietnamese-based gaming studio Sky Mavis. The protocol put eyes on the PlayAndEarn gaming industry back in 2021. In addition, the team is building a digital nation where each community member comes together to play, earn, and live in Lunacia.
