The most expensive football club in the Americas, Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, has announced it is releasing its Fan Token Offering (FTO) on Socios.com, in partnership with Chilliz. The news of the token, $SCCP, initially emerged in June, but now the token is finally here, ready to drop on September 2nd.
Tokens come in a limited supply of 850,000 for the very popular team. Each token will cost $2USD––or just over R$10.40––and will remain at this fixed price for the entire release. The event will occur in two phases, but if supply is exhausted in the first round, there will be no follow-up round.
“We proudly welcome this partnership with Socios.com and Chiliz as a true outcome of our vigorous search for innovation and new platforms of engagement with our fans,” exclaimed Corinthians president Duilio Monteiro Alves in a press release from June. “Now more than 35 million fans in Brazil and many more across the world will be able to interact with S.C. Corinthians in exciting ways, from wherever they are.”
The Sao Paulo-based club has long been a dominating force in the Brazilian domestic league, Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, as well as performing well numerous times on the international stage, winning the FIFA Club World Championship two times.
The Corinthians is one of the high-profile launches amidst several token launches coming from Socios.com in the coming weeks. As football season kicks off around the world, it’s an exciting time for fans both on the field and digitally.
