Sad Squid Game Scammers Rugpull Community With “We Are Depressed” Message

After numerous red flags, scam project Squid Game has finally rugpulled its community, blaming stress and scammers for their own unscrupulous actions.

Squid Game has perpetrated a rugpull on its community, brutally eliminating every player, before collecting a giant piggybank of $11.9 million all for itself. The betrayal comes after a number of mainstream media publications, including CNBC, uncritically reported on the project in the past week.

BSC News and other crypto publications were far savvier to the threat and warned readers about the project’s many red flags. This, however, did not stop many users from falling foul to this particular scam group. With investors unable to remove their money the project began moving funds through Tornado Cash on November 1st, leaving one final message for their Telegram community.

“Someone is trying to hack our project these days,” began Squid Game in a feeble blame-shifting exercise. “Not only the twitter account @GoGoSquidGame but also our smart contract. We are trying to protect it but the price is still abnormal.”

In the following message what was taking place became much clearer.

“Squid Game Dev does not want to continue running the project as we are depressed from the scammers and is [sic] overwhelmed with stress. We have to remove all the restrictions and the transaction rules of Squid Game. Squid Game will enter a new stage of community autonomy.”

It takes considerable brass neck to cite stress and depression for committing a rugpull. If the original developer had genuine problems the appropriate course of action would be to hire another developer.

The New Excuse

Squid Game’s ‘stress’ and ‘depression’ marks the second time this month (and it’s only the 2nd) we’ve run a story about a project that has used mental health issues as a justification for poor behavior.

On Monday we ran the story of crypto influencer Moon Gurl who cited mental health as a reason for dumping 1% of the total token supply on the Isla Inu community, crashing the token price, and effectively rugging the community. We only hope this isn’t the start of a new crypto trend.

Mental health excuses aside, Squid Game went on to offer an apology for the ‘inconvenience’ of robbing their community and concluded with a cryptic final message which reads as though it is part riddle, part bad medical advice, and all nonsense.

“Sorry again for any inconvenience been made for you. If any strange starts coming out of it, ignore it. Thanks!”
