Online marketplace looks to dip further into crypto and develop a road map for blockchain and digital currency.
Hiring for Blockchain Expert
The world’s largest online marketplace, Amazon, is looking to hire a digital currency and blockchain product lead. Just barely after Bezos has touched back to earth it appears that his company already peers toward the moon––the crypto moon!
The advertisement is currently up on their jobs website. The company is “seeking an experienced product leader to develop Amazon’s Digital Currency and Blockchain strategy and product roadmap”, according to the ad.
The qualifications also require someone with over a decade of product or program management, product marketing, business development, or technology experience. An ad that wants that much experience definitely seeks to implement change.
“Do you want to innovate on behalf of customers within the payments and financial systems of one of the largest e-commerce companies in the world?” the job advertising says. “You will leverage your domain expertise in Blockchain, Distributed Ledger, Central Bank Digital Currencies and Cryptocurrency to develop the case for the capabilities which should be developed, drive overall vision and product strategy, and gain leadership buy-in and investment for new capabilities.”
The position is a part of the Payments Acceptance and Customer Experience Department at the Amazon Headquarters in Seattle, WA. Pay looks to be based upon commensurate experience––but should be high. Preferred qualifications include an MBA.
Amazon Coming to Crypto?
The company behind Prime and major acquisitions like Whole Foods and Washington Post has undeniable clout in the world. Anytime a company like Amazon opens the door to crypto its causes a ripple effect.
Their market supremacy can dictate much of what happens, and even subsidiaries like Washington Post are likely to write a positive swing on the parent company’s actions. If anyone can venture into the unmapped world of digital currencies it’s Amazon.
The recent job posting comes after Amazon recruited staff in Latin America in their virtual commerce department earlier this year. The company has shown an increasing amount of interest in crypto and digital currencies.
We’ll see if whoever takes this new position can help lead Amazon to a successful venture into crypto and digital currency.
